What is Montessori?

Montessori is best characterized as a method of education adhering to the inherent nature of childhood growth and development discovered by Dr. Montessori. It prioritizes nurturing the growth and development of your child by respecting the natural biology and psychology of children.

“In his development, the child passes through certain phases, each of which has its own particular needs. The characteristics of each are so different that the passages from one phase to the others has been described as rebirths. Each level of life lasts a period of time. Each has its own needs, tendencies, and manifestations. An educational approach takes the child as a guide, the child itself will be the guide of education.”

The Montessori Method is successful because students are encouraged to develop specific skills only when the students are developmentally most likely to acquire them successfully. VMS allows the child to freely follow their innate curiosity within a highly specialized environment prepared to specifically support your child’s learning.

Why Montessori?

This video produced by Montessori Madness is an excellent portrayal of the reasons why a family would choose a Montessori education for their child, but the statement “no homework” does not hold true for our school.
