The Read-a-Thon 2011 theme is "Out of this World"
We would like to motivate the students to "read for fun," and also raise money for more leisure reading books for our library. All procede go directly to the purchase of new materials for the library. Please make any pledge checks to VMPA.
Last year we increased our number of readers from the previous year, from 8 participants, to 47 participants. Our funds, also increased from approximately four hundred dollars to fifteen hundred dollars. This, we feel, is a wonderful testimony that our parents are spending quality time with their younger children, or that older students are enjoying leisure reading time.
Each student is encouraged to obtain pledges for minutes read, or straight pledge amounts. Each student will receive recognition for every 30 minutes of reading time. We encourage the students in Children's House to participate and the program will accept books read aloud to the younger students.
The Read-a-Thon will begin on October 1, 2011 and end on Monday, October 31, 2011. Pledge list and money will be due by November 18th, 2011.
By joining in this year's Read-a-Thon, we hope your family will discover the wonderful world of books, and students will achieve their own personal reading goals.
